Announce of the Second Regional Workshop
The Tacis project Caspian Water Quality Monitoring and Action Plan for Areas of Pollution concern, shortened as CaspianMAP project, has the pleasure to announce the Second Regional Workshop, which is to be held July 9-10th, in Atyrau Kazakhstan.
This Second Regional Workshop will be devoted to two issues:
- The planning and preparation of pollution surveys in the Caspian by each littoral country. During these surveys both water and sediment samples will be taken. The samples will be analyzed in laboratories in the littoral states. The surveys will take place between August and November.
Tacis is supporting these surveys as part of efforts to come to a Regional Water Quality Monitoring Programme for the Caspian. - The results of a laboratory intercalibration exercise. Samples from the Caspian have been sent for analysis to laboratories of the littoral Caspian countries, and to three international reference labs. The results of these analyses will be presented, and compared in order to identify relative strengths and weaknesses in the regions' laboratories.
This exercise will allow laboratories in littoral countries to prepare themselves to work with the samples they will receive from the upcoming surveys.
