News » Caspian pollution survey for Azerbaijan completed
The Tacis project «Caspian Water Quality Monitoring and Action Plan for Areas of Pollution concern (Caspian MAP)» has the pleasure to announce that it has successfully completed the Caspian pollution survey for Azerbaijan today.
The Azerbaijan pollution survey is one of 4 regional surveys by the Caspian littoral states. The survey is part of Tacis support to come to a Regional Water Quality Monitoring Programme under the Tehran Framework Convention (Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea).
During these surveys both water and sediment samples have been taken to determine status and trends in water quality, It is expected that these surveys will be continued in the future as part of national and regional monitoring programmes.
The samples will be analyzed by the Caspian Complex Environmental Monitoring Administration (CCEMA), with the assistance of AzEcolab and one international laboratory. This is a follow-up to the regional intercalibration exercise which was successfully held in the first part of 2008.
